Ove Sprogøe is one of Denmark's finest and most treasured actors. Through a long career in film, television and theatre, his most famous role has been as Egon Olsen in the series of films _Olsenbanden (1968)_ . Born 1919, his parents were Arthur Sprogøe and Inger Sprogøe. Married 1945 to Eva Sprogøe, the same year as his theatre debut at "Folketeatret" in Copenhagen. Although 'Olsenbanden' is common ground for all Danes (e.g., one of the films rates as the highest-rated film in the history of TV-meter ratings in Denmark), he has always been able to maintain a varied profile as an actor, playing more serious roles as well, as the long list of films indicates. Apart from his film work, Ove Sprogøe has had a long career in theatre, including popular variety shows ("revy"). And in television where he had, for example, a recurring role in Denmark's most successful TV series ever, "Matador" (1978).
