When Ogata Akira was born, she was an unusual tall baby. Their parents believed that the child was cursed and abandon her in the nearby monastery.

Living there, an old sage saw the potential for a Crane style practitioner. Her long limbs were perfect for the sweeping movements of the arms which combined with the kicking patterns of the crane made her a force to be reckon.

Her training made her an obvious choice for playing catcher and when asked she didn't hesitate to accept her role.
