Vorngoth got his name when in a fit of pique he petulantly ripped the famous Burgess Shale into pieces in a drunken argument with a team of obnoxious palaeontologists, destroying the entire fossil record and at a stroke destroying the basis of Darwinian evolution forever. This upset him so much that he drowned his sorrows for the next 8,000 years.
