Growing up on a remote farm on the outskirts of Bogenhafen, Jan-Dirk always dreamed of leaving the responsibilities of his laborious life behind him to pursue a career as a professional footbowler. His foster parents would always find reason to deny his dreams however, saying "harvest is when we need you the most" and promising "next season, things will be different". Things became different in Skyrunner's 17th year, a year that saw his adopted family brutally slain by marauding Ogres. Fleeing the district he enrolled in the Altdorf Bowling Academy, now returning to play for his beloved Slicksters.
He remains, to this day, unaware of his true parentage, the vicious taking of his mother by a Dark Elven Sorcerer having been mercifully kept from him by his now dead carers. It is apparent to all observers though that there is something special in this farm boy. Many have commented on his 'elf-like' agilty and the uncanny way that the ball seems to leap to his hand, almost bending in mid flight...
