Darrell Anderson served in the 1st Armored division; fought both in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was wounded in Iraq and awarded the Purple Heart. He later disgraced himself by deserting from his unit in Germany and seeking refuge in Canada.

Mr. Anderson failed to understand the terms of his service.

Mr. Anderson speaks of courage but fails to display any of it. He failed in his duty to his country, his brothers-in-arms and his family.

It was not some high sense of morality that led Mr. Anderson to desert, but rather cowardice in the face of service.

He fled his country and left behind his four year old daughter to grow up with the social stigma of having a coward for a father. It was not courage that led him to go AWOL but rather his own cowardly fear. His selfishness makes him deserving of the worst treatment and he deserves neither refuge nor haven for his actions.

PM for further information on how you can help this former U.S. soldier face the court martial that awaits back in HIS home.

"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." -Nelson Mandela
