Virgil Walter Earp (July 18, 1843 - October 19, 1905), born in Ohio County, was one of the men involved in the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. In February 1860, Earp married Magdalena C. "Ellen" Rysdam (November 25, 1842 - May 3, 1910). A year later, in 1861, after the start of the Civil War, Earp joined the Union army. In October 1880, he became city marshal of Tombstone, Arizona.
