Lindsey McDonald —Attorney. Lindsey was on top of his game until Angel sent his vampire client, Russell Winters for a sunny high-dive out a high-rise office window. Although common practice included demon hit man hiring, witness tampering and many other unethical practices, Lindsey found himself in need of Angel's help when the firm sanctioned the death of young children seers. He soon fell back to his evil ways when a promotion was waved before him. Although it cost him his right hand in battle with Angel, Lindsey succeeded in using the Scrolls of Aberjian to help raise Darla and subsequently fell in love with her. After receiving a hand transplant some time later and realizing Darla would never return his affections, Lindsey grew disillusioned and left the law firm and L.A.
Lindsey made his grand return over two years later as the bedfellow of Eve. Their agenda: to go behind the Senior Partners' back and turn Spike and Angel against each other. The runic tattoos on his body and apartment hid him from the eyes of the Senior Partners, as well as any modern form of detection. Working with Cyrk, a member of Wesley's research team, they convinced the two vampires that there was a Cup of Perpetual Torment, and the one who drank from it would be the true heir to the Shanshu prophecy. Spike won the fight, and even though the cup was a fake, he began to believe there was a larger purpose for him.
One night at a strip club Lindsey approached Spike, calling himself Doyle and claiming to have visions of people in help. He explained that not only did he bring Spike back from the dead, but he made him corporeal as well. As a result, Spike followed Lindsey and began helping the helpless and becoming a "champion." However, Lindsey's rouse could not hold forever. An unforeseen event, Cordelia's awakening, changed the game. When Spike told Angel about Lindsey, Lindsey decided to activate the "failsafe" at Wolfram & Hart that would kill Angel if he ever tried to leave. Angel encountered him at the center of the machine and the two proceeded to have an epic sword fight. Despite Lindsey's fancy new strength and agility, he was still not able to defeat Angel. Beaten and bruised, the spell the rest of the crew had cast to remove his tattoos went in to effect. Immediately a portal opened above Lindsey's head, sucking him away for what appeared to be a reckoning with the Senior Partners.
