Ally McCoist was born in 1962, and brought up in East Kilbride,the son of a fitter who ran the local football team. He made his professional footballing debut at 16 for St Johnstone, and in 1981 he moved to Sunderland, before transferring to Rangers two years later. He stayed with the Glasgow club until 1998 before joining Kilmarnock. He is one of the most prolific goalscorers in the history of Scottish football. McCoist is also a team captain on BBC1's A Question Of Sport, and introduces the programme's video, Ally McCoist's Trial And Errors
