Gemma was a real up-and-comer in the New World Slayers, until she went down.

She built a reputation as an all-rounder, more than capable of filling any role she was required to in the squad. In her short time on the astrogranite, she scored a touchdown (against dwarfs, no less!), scored multiple casualties and even completed a pass, something that even the team's throwers tend to struggle with.

Most impressively, she avoided injury for her entire career, until a fateful match against the dread might of the Khemrian team Kahrambo. The match was tense and evenly paced, the Khemrian advance in the first half stalled by the relentless Amazons. In the second half, some risky play saw Gemma with the ball, deep in the enemy half. Sprinting for the end zone - and a game-winning touchdown - Gemma failed to see the reanimated corpse of a thrower coming up behind her. Tackled hard by the mouldering skeleton, she went down and never got back up.

The Slayers fell to pieces without her, and in the dying seconds of the match, the undying fiends scored a touchdown and won, leaving a hole in the squad.

Ruprecht Giles, the Slayers' head coach has sworn revenge on Kahrambo, and several of the players have taken a blood oath to end the unlife of htaed, the player who killed their friend.
