Windle Poons used to be the oldest living wizard on the Disc. Then he stopped living, but due to strange circumstances (Death had temporarily retired) he carried on unliving. At first, being a zombie came as a shock to Windle, who had been waiting for his death for some time (he believed in reincarnation), but after attempting to rekill himself several times, he decided it wasn't all bad.
