"It's time for Plan B."
Weevil Navarro, former head of the PCH biker gang, has stayed in high school because of a promise he made to his grandmother. 'Tis a pity he didn't pay more attention in English class: he could have learned a thing or two worth knowing and avoided some painful consequences. Perusal of Shakespeare may have taught him lessons about trust (it took a rescue from juvie for him to trust Veronica Mars); love — Lilly Kane broke his heart — and fate — going half-cocked after Logan Echolls for Lilly's murder cost him his best friend, Felix. Since Felix's death, Weevil has gone from one extreme to another. Starting as a deus ex machina — he saved Veronica's life because he was at that gas station — and recently becoming a vessel of vengeance — he caused his usurper's death. Unfortunately, his short-sighted desire for revenge derailed his grandmother's long-held wish of seeing him walk across the graduation stage. He's an enigma wrapped in a mystery wrapped in a red herring? puzzle.
In the midst of the 09er vs. PCHer war that followed Felix's death, Weevil became complacent about his control of the bikers. When Logan cleared himself in Weevil's eyes, Weevil assumed there was a rat in the midst of the PCHers. Weevil and Logan teamed up, and their investigation shifted the blame from one biker to another, but Weevil never questioned testimony from the person who replaced Felix as his right-hand man — Thumper.
After Veronica helped this unlikely pair gather evidence that Thumper himself was the one selling drugs for the Fitzpatricks, Weevil confidently walked right into his betrayal by Thumper and the other bikers. Weevil was cast out of the PCHers, his bike driven into the ocean by Hector. To add insult to injury, Weevil couldn't even avenge himself upon Thumper, given the backstabber's evidence of Weevil's beatdown of David "Curly" Moran.
That is, he couldn't until his frustration reached the boiling point. With Logan officially exonerated of Felix's murder and the police not even trying to find the truth, Weevil turned to Veronica for help. Weevil's memory of Felix waxing poetic about a Norman Rockwell-esque life — which Weevil realized must have been motivated by his secret relationship with Molly Fitzpatrick — prompts Weevil to use Molly as his patsy. After gathering enough evidence to point the finger for Felix's murder at the Fitzpatricks and Thumper, Weevil was not satisfied with Lamb's inaction in the matter. Unmoved by Veronica's entreaties, Weevil went to Plan B. He set up Thumper to look like he was stealing drug money from the Fitzpatricks. Did he know that would result in Thumper's hard-core death by implosion? Answer: quite probably. Are his actions redeemable? Answer: depends on your world-view. Will he regain control of the PCHers? Answer: Apparently, he doesn't want it. Is he telling the truth when he says that he was following the bus to protect Cervando? Answer: Most likely. Will Weevil end up being the only person who serves jail time over Felix's death? Tune in next season to find out...
