The Particle Accelerator Mk I - Prototype proved an overwhelming success, several thousand models being sold to private owners despite the high frequency of deaths in live field testing. Fortunately for Atlas, Gnomes simply cannot resist the latest and greatest of cannonry and explosives - even at their own peril.

The Accelerator projects its quarry in a mere instant not through explosives, but through highly volatile manipulation of antimatter stimuli in a beamlike stream from the firing chamber to the target destination. Passengers, explosives and in some cases, footballs depart the cannon and land at approximately the speed of light squared.

Occasionally, the particles overaccelerate, leaving only a spatter of blood where an unfortunate gnome was to arrive unharmed. Bones and organs do not typically survive such launches, either leaving a trail of fine red mist or a swirl of white-hot flames streaking through the air - either are a fine spectacle, and almost enough to forget the demise of whatever cargo might've gone missing as a result.
