Luis Garcia is currently sidelined with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee he sustained during the Carling Cup defeat by Arsenal in January 2007.
Garcia was signed from Barcelona in August 2004 and has proved to be the man for the big occasion.
In his first season at the club he finished as joint top scorer with 13 goals. Garcia scored some vital goals in the Champions League and hit five as Liverpool won a fifth European Cup. He scored one of the goals of the season with a magnificent strike against Juventus in the 2-1 win at Anfield. He then went on to score the dramatic winner against Chelsea in the semi-final at Anfield.
Garcia also scored a magnificent goal in the 2-1 FA Cup semi-final win against Chelsea but missed the final against West Ham because of suspension.
Before arriving at Anfield Garcia was no stranger to Rafael Benitez having played under the Reds boss at Tenerife.
Luis Garcia came up through the youth ranks at FC Barcelona youth teams and spent two season's as a regular in the reserves team from 1997 to 1999.
He then had a spell with Valladolid who loaned him out to Toledo, before another loan spell with Tenerife under Rafael Benitez, where he made a vital contribution to their promotion campaign, playing 40 games and scoring 16 goals.
