The real name of the Goblin Queen is Madelyne Pryor.
Madelyne was cloned by Dr. Nathaniel Essex (usually known as Mister Sinister), perhaps the greatest geneticist in the universe. He is not only capable of cloning, but of creating superhuman abilities and enhancing or controlling mutant abilities as well. Madelyne is a clone of Jean Grey (better known under her codenames Marvel Girl and later Phoenix), specifically designed to fall in love with Scott Summers (with the codename of Cyclops), the later husband of Jean Grey, as Nathaniel believed that a child of Jean and Scott would have great powers. Thus Nathaniel created Madelyne to produce a child with Scott. Although Nathaniel's plans were not as succesful as he was plotting, Madelyne possesses, being essentially another version of Jean, her telekinetic and telepathic abilities.
Jean is considered to be one of the most powerful mutants that ever lived. But Madelyne's powers were exponentially enhanced by demonic magic to the point where her telepathy can be used to release the dark side of a person's personality, and her telekinesis can even warp reality in a localized area.
