Chewer, like his brother Flenser, wandered into the Skeleton Krew's training grounds one day in search of food during the team's training break. Mistaking the benches full of undead players for a giant buffet, the brothers caused untold chaos in the stands when they tried to escape the pitch clutching the severed heads of two of the zombie players. When the coach discovered that this actually made the zombies perform better, he signed the two brothers up on the spot, promising them cash on the 'barrel-head' (an expression both brothers mistook for a really LARGE keg of brains) if they played for the team.
