Schaeffer's story:

Every wealthy Blood Bowl team has their own small band of brutes whose job is to protect the players and the coaching staff from any harm that might come their way. A risky job (if you let anything happen to somebody within the team, you'll pay dearly) but well paid and if you're in it for some time you also start to get the respect you deserve from your team and its fans.

Respect.

That's one hell-of-a word, or atleast it was for Schaeffer, when he dreamt of wealth, fame and respect as a kid; growing up in a tought neighbourhood with no parents there to watch his back or hand him some good advice, he had to show the world he could be his own man, finding HIS way in life. Of course life isn't that straight forward, as he got to know it the hard way, and sometimes you have to be the weaker one in a situation in order to bring you closer to your goal - sometimes you simply need to tuck your tail between your legs and be smart!

Of course, Schaeffer was not.

One morning after a long night out with his team (he liked to call the team 'his team') and his companions he woke up to a crushing pain in his head and a swollen eye, from where he'd gotten that he couldn't remember, remembering that today was another day at work (the team was set up for an interview and a meeting with the League Commissioner) though the team had just won the league with a stunning 5p. ahead of their rivals and deserved to at least have had ONE day off.
He had forgotten the next day's work as he sat with the team, all-a-laugh, when this beautiful woman came up to him and forced him away from the team. The woman, she called herself Elix'ch, wanted him to show that he was a 'real' man under all that muscle and demanded him to drink more and more. Stupidly enough (it would turn out) he accepted this challenge (not wanting to hurt his reputation and the respect he'd earned) and started to drown drink after drink and before he knew it, the evening slipped away and now he was trapped with this bone-crunching pain in his head and the mysterious black eye. Where had he gotten it?

"Schaeffer!" came a yell from the hallway, "Where are you?" It was definetly the coaches voice and he inwardly shrank as he waited for the door to crush in any moment now.

The moment passed and nobody kicked the door in. Then, all of a sudden, he heard the voice again: "Bloody hell Schaeffer, I'll rip your lungs out if you don't show yourself at this very moment!"

Before he could control himself, he threw himself out of bed and almost jumped through the door into the hallway. He was sweating quite heavily as he turned about to find the coach, but no coach did he find. The hallway was empty.

Schaeffer was charged for first degree murder of the Reikland Rovers' star player, Johnny 'Old SHoes' Blabbot. He'd been found lying in a little alleyway two houses further up the street from the place the team had been celebrating. His neck bore two small dots, which at first glance seemed like any bruise a player might have suffered during a game, but a closer look would show that the neck had been broken in three places - a trait of old Schaeffer's.

Nikk 'Old' Schaeffer was immediately sentenced to serve under the new Blood Bowl team -The Last Chancers-.
