Strauss was an apprentice carpenter. While out purchasing supplies for his Master, he was accosted by a Company recruiter and conscripted. His main role was to provide makeshift accomodations for officers and technical knowledge for needed equipment.

He was found dead near the ruins of Vanhaldenschlosse in a place obviously where the Company had been ambushed. Several members lay there dead, and when the scouts were able to retrieve a great many Company members from this terrible place...
