One of five daughters, and fatherless, Babette lived with her family on a sugar plantation near Pointe du Lac. Louis came to her following her brother's death to guide her in managing the plantation.

After Louis burns down Pointe du Lac, he (with Lestat) seek the assistance of Babette for shelter as dawn approaches. She later demands the two of them leave after she discovers their true nature.

She died young and insane, insisting she had seen the devil at Pointe du Lac. Louis shunned mortal life after Babette, killing only strangers, as she had caused him too much pain, a reason he offers as to why he couldn't give her (and other mortals he befriended) death.
