In 2006 Team CSC decided on adding another bus to their fleet and therefore needed one more driver. This brought Danny In t'Ven to the organization, as he was recommended via a contact in Belgium.

Danny had been employed as a driver for the Belgian government for five years prior to that, but it was sort of in the cards that he was going to work within the cycling world because cycling has played a major part in his life.

”I've been a bike rider since I was tiny, because my dad, Willy, had been a pro rider on the Molteni team with Eddy Merckx for three years from 1971 to 1973. I was a rider for 20 years myself – until 2003 where I became a fulltime driver,” says In t'Ven.

The biggest triumph as an active rider was in 1997, where Danny won the Belgian Road Championship. He has also won the Belgian Time Trial Championships three times at the end of the 90'ies.

”I was only a pro for two years in 1992 and 1993, but kept racing for many years after that. At the time I was with Collstrop and did the Vuelta a Espana in 1993, where I became 78th. But my timing was pretty lousy because at that time the Belgian professional teams only wanted classics specialists, and my areas were more the stage races and time trials, so I think that was the reason I mostly stayed an amateur,” explains In t'Ven, who also mentions his victory in the prologue in Milk Race in 1993 as a great moment.

The year before that Danny also won a stage in Milk Race, where the second place went to Lars Michaelsen.
