Willie feels responsible for the fate of The Picknicers, as it was due to Willie being swindled into signing a contract that The Picknickers eventually turned into The Cursed Picknickers.

Willie has seen too many of his friends get injured or killed and has trouble not blaming himself for The Picknickers current situation and has taken up drinking. Willie subjects himself to reckless plays with no regards to his own safety in order to draw the opponents attention away from his teammates.
