Few suspected that Marky Mark, the younger brother of New Kids on the Block vocalist Donnie Wahlberg, would still be around in the mid-'90s while New Kids on the Block would be history. But Marky Mark has survived through high-profile underwear ads and low-grade, but popular, pop-rap. He has even overcome a homophobic controversy, and scored a number one hit with "Good Vibrations" from his debut, Music for the People; that single was his high point. Even though his second LP, You Gotta Believe, peaked at number 14, it didn't duplicate the platinum status of his debut. His music career, interestingly enough, was eclipsed by his success as an actor, starring in such major motion pictures as Boogie Nights (1997), Three Kings, and The Perfect Storm.
