In his rookie season, Matt Johnson racked up 102 penalty minutes in just 14 games. This was after totaling 444 penalty minutes in two seasons in the OHL.
Johnson would be involved in a number of spirited scraps during his 11-year career. Unfortunately, he won't be remembered for any of his fights.
Instead, his lasting legacy was made when he cheap-shotted Jeff Beukeboom with a sucker punch. Beukeboom was left with a concussion and was never the same afterward.
Johnson received a 12-game suspension for the incident. The heinous act is detailed in the video below.
