None save the most ancient of daemons recall the infamy of Tholgarun the Thrice Damned. Once one of the favoured of all four Chaos Gods, having accomplished missions set by them which even the mightiest greater daemons and mortal champions could only hope form, Tholgrun's place amongst the favoured seemed assured.
However even the mighty can fall as Tholgarun found. Feeling him set to face the wrath of Nuffle, Tholgarun was momentarily granted physical form in the realm of mortals. It was his duty to lead one of the God's favoured Blood Bowl teams, the Chaotic Annihilators, to victory against the infamous Overwings. Sighting what seemed to be mere humans, Tholgarun and his fellows felt that this would be an easy victory. But it was not to be. The team was wiped out by half time and Tholgarun himself laid low by the unholy strength of these god-like humans, the Gods were outraged at his failure. To them he had committed three failures:
He had personally failed to achieve the mission the God's had set him, not only failing to achieve victory but their favoured team having been defeated in a humiliating 5-0 massacre.
His second sin was being personally bested by a mere mortal, the team Captain of the Overwings.
And the third and greatest sin was humiliating the Gods by showing their weakness in the eyes of the rival deity Nuffle. So thus Tholgarun was given the title the Thrice Damned.
Throwing himself down before his deities, Tholgarun begged for forgiveness and assured each of them personally he would never fail them again. Khorne roared in anger, Slaanesh screeched in displeasure and Nurgle groaned in anguish. Tzeentch however laughed, declaring that he found Tholgarun's kowtowing humorous. It was decided that Tholgarun would be given another chance.
The Chaos Gods granted him an armour forged by their greatest daemon smiths and imbued with their strongest blessings. He would lead a Chaos team of other souls who had failed in the past in the field of Blood Bowl and if they achieved victory they would be redeemed. Tholgarun now filled with renewed vigour and zeal, set out to lead his fellow damned onto the fields of Blood Bowl to wing back glory for Chaos!
