Sometimes I hear the argument that the reason otherkin identify as such is because they desire 'more', having low self-esteem and a desire for the imagined power and possibility of a different kin such as a beautiful, graceful elf, a strong willed and able bodied dwarf or a mysterious and wise lizardman, and I tend to agree. However, as a Hobgoblinkin I do not believe that this argument can be said to apply to me as hobgoblins are vilified and have proven to be less capable in both physical and intellectual areas than my birth race. If not due to a pure sense of belonging, why would someone be a hobgoblin otherkin? What motivation could there possibly be to identify as a lesser, vilified being, a being that everyone else would barely deign to spit on, a being whose balls higher beings would want to step on while wearing high stiletto heels?
