Pumbaa is a very likable character as he's truly loyal to Simba and very protective of Timon. He loves to consume grubs, and longs for friends who won't abandon him. However, he displays childlike naivety which is sometimes confused for stupidity, but actually, he does come up with some intelligent plans and insightful ideas, which Timon rapidly claims as his own.
