Valerie is a grizzled veteran of several campaigns against the Orks infesting the wilder areas of the Empire. She served as a ranger under the Elector Count of Wismar, but eventually she tired of the hardships of war and moved to the city. After a while her money ran out, and with no other skills than killing the choice was either to return to the army, become a ruffian or start playing Blood Bowl. She chose the latter, something McCarron is very happy about considering her great experience with fighting. Her knee was damaged in a brutal game against a Chaos team, the same game when Kelly Gallagher was killed, and Valerie has begun to become less reliable about showing up for games. McCarron values her experience however, and for the time being she has a place secured amongst the Highlanders.
Once a skilled replacer (perhaps even of Clan blood) shows up however, she might very well find herself out of work once again. Hazel has promised her a position as assistant coach when she retires, but Valerie is seasoned enough to know that promises are no more than words, it is action that counts.
