Trubert Muden was just the towns apprentice blacksmith but was happy as all young men to take part in the defense of the town whenever necessary and would sally forth to defend the town in his blacksmiths apron when necessary. His weapons of choice would be the hammer of the blacksmith and anything he could get his other hand on which normally ended up being some form of spike/hooked implement which would become a lethal weapon in his hands.
When it came down to the harvest season of his 18th year and he was ready to fully step into adulthood and become one of the town men, the beastmen attacked in the early hours of the morning. Being a nearly trained apprentice Trubert was out extremely early preparing the forge for his master when he smelt the foul stench that is a horde of beastmen close by. He managed to raise the alarm before a blood lust came over him and he charged into battle. Today there was a shield in the smithy for repairs and Trubert charged headlong into a pack of 10 beastmen armed with just a shield and blacksmiths hammer.
He stroke out hard with the borne rage of a man Krugenheim and smashed the skull of the first beastmen in range and then used the tip of the shield to inflict serious damage which would leave lasting scars on the next two beastmen. By this time the town had been awoken by the alarm and the sound of battle. Then Vorster Nullener and Varl Tarshoffer joined Truberts side and the three youngsters battled like men-possessed and between them killed over 10 beastmen.
With this impressive feat at arms and crazed attack the three young lads who by their sheer charge and ferocity where sent forth to be considered for the Great-swords. Alas Trubert didn't have the discipline required for the Great-swords, and as such was awarded a place on the team when he returned to Krugenheim.
