Gurge Wurfeller was always a whelp and a runt in the town and was never expected to mount too much in terms of defending the town and was seen as the towns runner and messenger due to the lack of any form of combat skill he displayed as a youngster.
Gurge was out doing his morning runs at the break of sunlight one summers morning when he 15 and he saw what appeared to be a giant rat running along the top of one of the houses in the town. He sprinted to the side of the house as the what appeared to be a rat-man climbed down the side of the building with its head going towards the floor.
He gave chase as it sprinted through the town trying to escape then after a couple of long stride Gurge dived and grabbed the rat-men by the tail and dragged it scratching kicking and biting to the nearest house and shouted for someone to come and help him. Maximilian Faust opened the door and immediately recoiled from the mutated rat and after the initial shock took over holding it from Gurge so he could go grab the Mayor to find out what should be done about it.
The mayor didn't know what it was so asked for an adviser from the counts court to come take a look at this creature. The adviser turned up and knew it was a skaven from the moment it looked at the rat-men. As he was informed on his trip the adviser knew the town would soon find out about the truth of skaven if it had a bloodbowl team so under the counts orders killed the skaven and ordered the_cursed_one to hire Gurge or be an enemy of the state as Gurge was too weak to be a great-sword.
