History

In the days of Bloodbowl past, Black Death were one of the most notable Chaos Dwarf teams in the World's Edge Superleague.

Sadly, the team lost their sponsorship due a scandal involving a pyramid scheme. The proposed ziggurat building was never constructed and the team's coach ran off with all the gold.

Consequently, without support from financiers, any sponsors and the fans, they quickly plummeted through the divisions until they were finally disbanded.

Recently, the Cult of the Black Dwarf Sorcerers have decided to revive the team, looking to enjoy some additional extra-curricular activities and bring honour to the name of the Great Black Dwarf, Zhatan.

They found some of the old players and hired the sons and nephews of those players who had died.

They are hoping the experienced older players will not be too out of practice and will be able to teach the youngsters some dirty tricks along the way.

The Avengers hope to restore their former glory and cheat as much as they can along the way.


The Black Death Curse

After 15 games of failure, the team realised a cursed had been placed on the team. If something was likely to go wrong, it would go wrong. Double double skulls, dropped catches and failed GFIs all happened at the most inconvenient times. The financiers of the team are getting worried and to save money they decided to cut back on the most expensive players until they can work out how to break the curse.


Lore History

Black Death were originally mentioned in the 2nd Edition Star Players manual. As the Black Dwarf roster is based upon 2nd Edition Chaos Dwarves, it seems fitting the name of this team connects with that lore.



FUN FACT

It was recorded in the 2nd Edition Companion Manual, that the original team had a problem with their runaway Machineries of Destruction. They got out of hand so much, they killed all their fans by the end of the season. Learning from history, the Black Death Avengers have decided to not use tanks, death rollers or another other on-pitch vehicles as they realise that they might go AWOL and kill fans. After all, each fan is a paying customer. And without them, the team would be collapse into another financial mire and become disbanded.
