"Of all the Blood Bowl teams in the known world, none inspire such disgust as those who follow Nurgle the Lord of Decay. Of those teams, however, very few inspire more pity than the Sludge River Shamblers.

Once, the little town of Mittelburg stood upon the Rushwater River. It was a bustling place full of life and vibrancy, a shining example of humanity's best and brightest facets...

...and then the dark times came. The fish fled the river, the animals deserted the woods- even the trees themselves became sickly and twisted. No-one knows if the people became corrupted on purpose, or if it was just one of the Grandfather's cruel jests, but one thing is known- the Rushwater River no longer exists other than as a tale told in hushed tones around campfires. Now in its place can be found the vile and stinking Sludge River...

...and the Blood Bowl team who ply their trade from there wear a uniform very similar to that of the once proud Mittelburg Lions."
