The sisters have long been known for their unwavering devotion to their deity and their willingness to do anything to rid the world of evil. Unfortunately, with the reduction in the internecine conflicts that have plagued Ostermark for centuries, there had been a drastic decrease in the undead and chaotic incursions that the Sisters had traditionally faced. The Order was becoming dangerously bored and listless without a steady influx of enemies to smite. As a result, High Matriarch Bertha Bestraufrung found it necessary to find alternative ways for the sisters to carry out their holy mission.

It was on the council of Matriarch Diomira Büchner, a former warrior priest of Sigmar who had fallen ill and retired from active duty before joining the Sisterhood, that the decision was made to assemble a Blood Bowl team. Having grown up near a dwarven colony that played the game, Büchner knew the basics of the rules and immediately set to organizing a team. The idea was greeted with much trepidation by many of the Sisters, as the covenant's only exposure to Nuffle's game was an abortive initiative to form brute squads targeting chaotic and undead supporters attending games in the region.

However, after convincing several enthusiastic acolytes of the merits of Blood Bowl (and giving them all forbidden copies of Grudgesnapper magazine), Büchner soon had a list of potential players signed up. All she had left was the hiring of a skilled coach to lead them to victory on the pitch – but where does a holy order turn when looking for an experienced football manager...?
