Languishing at the bottom of the 3rd Division in the Evil Miner's League, insolvency looked a cert for Gribbly Athletic until reclusive Church of Hashut motivational speaker and billionaire Zharund Muttski bought up the club and made sweeping changes. Blind Timidity, the Bull Centaur star of yesteryear was first out the door, followed by several other ageing fixtures of the team. In came players poached from higher divisions, bought for unbelievable quotas of obsidian and sacrificial virgins. The coup d'etat was the signing of former Ziggurats top-scorer Jingo Fury in a coaching capacity. Fury was able to sign several bright, up-and-coming hobs of the Fury chain-gang, despite protestations from other notable hobgoblin dynasties.

Now the new-look side has had time to gel, Muttski's ambitions to turn Gribbly into a world-conquering side look a little more attainable, although there's still work to do. Fury is a renowned sadist, accused by (now deceased) members of his back room staff of poisoning players in their sleep, 'just for kicks.' A feud with club captain Akron Humvee over the deference shown to the club's hobs could also lead to fireworks, with Humvee reportedly dismayed at Fury's ban on hobgoblin meat at half-time refreshments.
