The Happy Slum-bags--formerly a favourite Empire team known as the Righteous Warriors--were playing a charity game in the far-off northern city of Sarnath. They were there when the doom came, but legend has it that they were so righteous they continued their game, not even breaking off when vile chaos beasts of all descriptions flooded onto the field. Using their expert skills, they saw the abominations as a replacement for their opposing team, now inexplicably gone from the field.

The team's captain, Mighty John Ridlock, valiantly fought play after play against the coming onslaught, but even after the Warriors had scored a mind-boggling 63 touchdowns (over several days) the Chaos kept coming. Finally, the team readied itself for one last charge against everything that was evil in the world. They hiked the ball, its movement describing a beautiful arc through the air more perfect than any hike has ever been before, only slightly before realising that they had in fact hiked the head of Mighty John Ridlock, the rest of whom was now being ripped apart and eaten by a large horned beast who was repugnantly ignoring The Rules Of The Game by eating other players and, more importantly, moving at random over that most holy of holies, the line of scrimmage.

The Righteous Warriors had no chance: they were slaughtered and eaten to a man. But several weeks later, a team of scrawny beastmen kept in line by 4 ostentatiously chic Chaos Warriors and headed by a mighty specimen of a minotaur appeared on a field in Mordheim kitted out in the famous team's gear. Nobody said a word, and the game continued as normal, with only a slight pause while the minotaur tried to eat an announcer for pronouncing their name wrong. Even though, one of the chaos warriors (dressed in pink, with an ever-so-fashionable frill of lace) politely explained, the name was spelled "The Happy Slum-bags," the pronunciation was in fact "The Righteous Warriors."

Nobody has made the same mistake since, and The Hap--'Righteous Warriors' continue their astounding zenith after a short unannounced vacation, a vacation which, some whisper in the darker corners of the darker taverns, is rather permanent in scope, and includes in its attractions the river Styx and Pluto's throne...
