| Even the most noble of gentry must face the reaper on their last day. These arrogant aristocrats make the passage across the Acheron into Hades where they are judged. The pure-hearted travel to paradise, the sinners to torment, and those that prove worthy of redemption are granted access to the Asphendol, or the ghost fields, providing they pass their challenge. The nobility, living gluttonously on the fruits of their estates and opulently on their inherited wealth, have never face physical hardship. The Fates judged that these nobles be trapped with the Acheron river and to journey out into the world only to harvest the souls of dissidents on the bloodbowl pitch. Their challenge requires them to expend their own energy to complete a task on a level playing field rather than rely on the oppression of those beneath them in the social heirarchy. Even these supernatural rules are pushed to the limits as the Acheron Nobles frequently carry with them gentlemen's pistols and sabres whilst on the pitch. Hardly equal opportunity but I guess it's a start.
