<b>Team Dukkha</b> consists of 13 dwarves that seek release from their traditional lives (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsara_%28Buddhism%29">samsara</a>) through the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noble_Eightfold_Path">Noble Eightfold Path</a> towards enlightenment (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nirvana_%28state%29">nirvana</a>). <div><span><input type="button" value="Learn more about dukkha" onclick="if (this.value == 'Learn more about dukkha') { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('span')[1].getElementsByTagName('span')[0].style.display = ''; this.value = 'Hide dukkha'; } else { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('span')[1].getElementsByTagName('span')[0].style.display = 'none'; this.value = 'Learn more about dukkha';}"></span><span><div class="alt2" ><span style='display: none;'> The team name <b><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dukkha">Dukkha</a></b> is a central concept in Dwarven buddhism, the word roughly corresponding to a number of terms in the common tongue including sorrow, suffering (or pain), affliction, anxiety, dissatisfaction, discomfort, anguish, stress, misery, and frustration. The team has taken the name to remind them that Blood Bowl, as all of existence, is dukkha. In any Blood Bowl match, you will most likely experience two different kinds of dukkha: <i>Dukkha-dukkha</i> (pain of pain) is the obvious sufferings of: physical pain, injury, ageing, death and bereavement. <i>Viparinama-dukkha</i> (pain of alteration) is suffering caused by change: violated expectations and the failure of happy moments to last. Only by understanding the nature of dukkha can you hope to be released from it. Team Dukkha attempts to understand dukkha through first-hand practical and personal experience (lots of it). </span></div></span></div> <div><span><input type="button" value="Learn more about the Noble Eigthfold Path" onclick="if (this.value == 'Learn more about the Noble Eigthfold Path') { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('span')[1].getElementsByTagName('span')[0].style.display = ''; this.value = 'Hide the Noble Eigthfold Path'; } else { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('span')[1].getElementsByTagName('span')[0].style.display = 'none'; this.value = 'Learn more about the Noble Eigthfold Path';}"></span><span><div class="alt2" ><span style='display: none;'> Because the players of team Dukkha are caught in samsara, they die only to be reborn on the team. Thus, to escape from dukkha would also mean to escape from team Dukkha. The way that leads to release from dukkha/Dukkha is the Noble Eightfold Path, represented by the Dharma wheel that is also the team badge. Progress along the path is measured by <a href="http://fumbbl.com/help:SkillList">Star Player Points</a>. A player may find release when he has attained a number of Star Player Points equal to twice the number of steps in the path. The players of team Dukkha have cast off their dwarven names and taken on new names that are designed to help them escape samsara. The names are <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paramita">paramitas</a>, referring to the perfection or culmination of certain virtues that enable enlightenment. </span></div></span></div> <div><span><input type="button" value="Learn more about the four stages of enlightenment" onclick="if (this.value == 'Learn more about the four stages of enlightenment') { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('span')[1].getElementsByTagName('span')[0].style.display = ''; this.value = 'Hide the four stages of enlightenment'; } else { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('span')[1].getElementsByTagName('span')[0].style.display = 'none'; this.value = 'Learn more about the four stages of enlightenment';}"></span><span><div class="alt2" ><span style='display: none;'> A player must go through the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/four_stages_of_enlightenment">Four stages of enlightenment</a>, requiring several returns to samsara, before finding ultimate release in Nirvana. As the player evolves thrugh the different stages, he gains different ranks. The first rank is that of <i>Sekha</i> (rookie), followed by the ranks of <i>Sotapanna</i> (stream-enterer), <i>Sakadagami</i> (one-returner) and <i>Anagami</i> (non-returner). The non-returner does not come back into dwarven existence, or any other lower world, after death.</span></div></span></div> --------------------------------------------------- Team Dukkha, bringing you sorrow, suffering (or pain), affliction, anxiety, dissatisfaction, discomfort, anguish, stress, misery, and frustration in Blood Bowl since 2008-03-06. --------------------------------------------------- <b>SMACK Trophies</b> <img src="http://fumbbl.com/teams/215410.jpg"> ***Veteran SMACK CCXXXVI*** (3 SMACKs played) |
