The most unlucky Wood Elf team on FUMBBL, because they are played by me, Forever "Snake Eyes" Lazy. I think I'm going to actually just change my name to Forever Snake Eyes, as that has a nice ring to it... and is accurate. There is no ball they cannot fumble, no block they cannot be killed in, no line of scrimmage in which their tree man will not promptly be seriously injured in, no pass they cannot screw up, no leap their 'dancer' cannot fall over while trying to execute. Referees must be aware of their growing disguntlement because they are eagle eyed on the lookout for any fouls they might commit. These guys are to Blood Bowl what Accrington Stanley are to the English league game. On the bright side, at least they don't get fouled very often by the enemy. On the not so bright side, thats probably only because the enemy don't need to foul people being taken off the pitch in a body bag. For fun, I'm going to keep a log of how this team does. vs Man Alive or Dead 2 - began the game receiving the kick, 2 rotters + ugly dude on the LOS, woodies put well forward to put some hurt on them. Blitz is rolled. LOS is quiet, but the ball (which was kicked well back) ends up in beastman hands. The Casuals get their first move, and it begins with Bramble Bill beating up a Rotter. Double skulls, the Snake Eyes of my name. (He even manages to stun himself, he is /that/ much of a cretin). The 'defenders' get yet another round. By the end of that the entire LOS is down, all the wingers are down, only Blitz and Elbereth are left up, the ball is firmly in enemy hands on the Casuals touchline. And this is the opponents first actual turn. ...they promptly concede, knowing full well that the Jinx is in full force. Now I write this their fortunes have turned slightly, having actually won a game! their first ever. A necromantic team suffer the indignity of losing to the losers. "Fear the Dogz" will forever bear this shame.. Lorindale also died... how very sad. And Myriviel the kicker now has a bad back. Such is the price of victory. What should also be noted was that Bramble Bill, even though they won in the end, was a liability to the team throughout this one as well. Well, they drew in a game vs high elves in which luck didn't really feature much (we were both unlucky). And then a game versus the Amazons the Jinx returned. The first half they were in defence, and in an extremely dull (and lame) game after beating seven bells out of all the elves, the amazons sat on the touchline until turn 8 and then scored. In the second half a lucky pass to Blitz meant a touchdown on round 2, so it was looking good. There was a decisive six turns left with all to play for, not many elves down. So then what happens? A pitch invasion. How many Casuals are stunned? Six. SIX. After the enemy blitz stunned an seventh, I had a mighty three people to move for two whole rounds. (One was Bramble Bill who promptly took root so I guess that meant two to move). How many opponents were stunned? Zero. Who do you think won? For once they have had a lucky game! the first in 15. Maybe their luck has finally begun to turn? Against a lizardman team - amazingly the Casuals laid the smack down on the lizards, with three badly injured saurials by the end of the game. Even the normally useless Bramble Bill got one. 2-1! Oh silly me, I though their luck had turned. Jinx soon put an end to that, with another game just filled with catastrophe, left and right. Every important roll (and a few not so important) was a fail. Bill was in there, causing turnovers by falling over his own feet, when he wasn't taking root. The enemy of course never failed a single roll of consequence. The consummate nadir of failure was Elbereth the thrower who attempted three passes and failed every single one, thus managing to put an end to every single Casual drive. (thats 6 d6, with no roll higher than a 2, which has a probability of around one tenth of one percent. Thats just how bad the Jinx is.). The only good side of the game is that Elbereth was promptly killed. Good, the useless git deserved it. Elbereth's replacement, Useless Fumbler (his name was chosen pre-emptively) managed to live up to his name in the next match. He made two passes in this game - both of them were intercepted. Aside from that the usual terrible luck appeared pretty much everywhere, with a turnover in the first move of each offense, and the dreaded 'get the ref' result which meant four of them were in hospital by half time. Yet another turnover in the first turn at the beginning of the second half (I could've used a reroll on that one but really, why bother) meant the Casuals didn't bother finishing yet another disastrous game. (It should be noted that my luck score overall wasn't bad - 55%. And this is fairly normal. The thing is, most of the successful rolls are on things which are very one sided, like blocking when you are ganging up on the opponent, and not really the crucial rolls. Every game comes down to some small number crucial rolls, usually involving the ball - the 2 or 3 passes made in a game, the 2 or 3 attempts to pick up a fumbled ball. Or getting a snake eyes when trying to dodge at an absolutely terrible moment, like on the first drive before the thrower has picked up the ball. It is /those/ rolls that are absolutely crucial, and it is those that the Casuals invariably fail at.) |
