Background Deep within the forests, the wood elves discovered an ancient network of images, texts and magic moving pictures called the in'tehr we'b. On it, were stories of the long-lost sport of hockey. A brutal game played on ice, where every played was allowed to carry a club and attach blades to their feet. The greatest team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, fast became a legend amongst the wood elves. They told tales of the players of old. Names such as Darryl Sittler, Wendel Clark, Felix Potvin and Doug Gilmour become well known amongst the trees. Recently, the wood elves decided to create a living shrine to this fabled Toronto Maple Leafs team - in their own sport of choice, Blood Bowl. This team would follow in the footsteps of every great fan of the team, by naming themselves Leafs Nation. Every player that joined would take on the name of an ancient Leaf. Their Elven name, lost forever as they set to re-create history on the Blood Bowl pitch. Retired Players: #1 Francelas B'chemin (Death) in game 4 vs the Reikland Greyhawks. Honoured as the first death in Leafs Nation history. #6 Christialas Hansion (retired due to injury). He joined the team as an assistant coach, though one wonders what he has to teach after accumulating 0 SPPs during his short-lived career. #11 Jefias Treefinger (Death). He was one of the more promising line-elfs on Leafs Nation til an unfortunate incident at the hands of a formidable dark-elf team. #15 Tomas Ka'berle (Death). No one really knew Tomas. It was his first game with the team. So in that sense, no one really cared when he was brutally mauled by a dwarf slayer. Mostly it just sucked to lose a 70k investment in one match. #5 I'an Whitefeather (Death. The second casualty in the Leafs' game against the dwarfs from Ironforge, except this one hurt a bit more. I'an had been with the team since its inception and lasted 11 games, most of them spent on the line of scrimmage getting mauled by players much tougher than he. In fact, it's a miracle he lasted 11 games - and as such he will be honoured, even though he accumulated almost no stats. |
