Winner of RnP Veterans' League season VI and VII! This is my favorite BB team ever. 17 Intercepts so far 9 Games longest win streak 19 Games longest undefeated streak Record history: 01-10: 4/3/3 rookie blitzer-focuse slann suck 11-20: 7/1/2 developing blitzers 21-30: 7/1/2 further developing blitzers and hiring and developing catchers 31-40: 8/2/0 developed team! 41-50: 4/1/3 Losing to Azure and Iskabis, and suffering perms on 2 blitzers. Total (49): 31/8/10 Team development After succesfully making rush and pass teams with (IMO) the two easiest races, I decided to go for a more challenging race: Slann! In order to develop the blitzers, I went for an early no-catcher build. This turns out to be really hard with no Krox and a morbid (though appropriate for RnP) desire to pass the ball despite AG3. This (and slann's general lack of starting skills) resulted in 3 losses in the team's first 6 games. I finally caved, deciding to hire a single catcher, because I wasn't willing to go for running plays in R&P, and the AG3 skilless passing game sucks. Fortunately my first 2 catchers died before skilling, thus preventing them from ever becoming the SPP hogs I was afraid of. My plan worked: my blitzers were starting to skill. After 15 games, the team had 4 blitzers and 2 catchers, with 10 skills on the blitzer and only 1 skill on a catcher. This did of course involve a lot of 3+ catch rolls, and as a result the team's record now counted a total of 5 losses. Then the 16th game, Mark, star AG4 blockle blitzer, rolled +ST, and the team became truly scary. After 26 games I decided that 4 blitzers with 3-5 skills was enough of a basis to start building catchers. Fortunately, that was also around the time that FFB 1.0 came out, with pass block. This led to the team growing so huge, that I simply accepted facing a wizard in all matches. After 31 games, the team had 2100 TV on 12 payers, with still plenty of skillups to grow. At that point I no longer expected to reliably win with the team, as the wizard is just too good. That expectation was proven wrong, as the team played the next two complete seasons undefeated. It bloated to 2310 TV after 41 games, with 3 of the 4 blitzers having ST4. The next two seasons they lost to Azure's and Iskabis' pro elves in the finals. Tourney performance After a great many friendlies in open play, the team started playing scheduled matches when the Veterans' league was formed. Their first league season (Season V veterans' league), the team made it to the finals, but lost those to Showtime Band. Both the second (Season VI) and third (Season VII) Veterans' league, the same two teams faced off in the finals, but the frogs won! Season VIII, a -AV on Mark by Azure in the last regular season game led to playing the finale without him. This meant a blockle blitzer or a wrestle lino were the closest thing I had to sackers. Being unable to pry the ball loose even once meant another second place for the frogs. Season IX had very eventful finals, where I had lots of steals and luck in the first half and lots of critical snakes in the second half. In the end the frogs lost 4-3 in overtime. Did-you-know? Despite having no MA > 7, Rush and Jump scored their first OTTD in game 32? It involved quick snap and sidestep, and the blitz action was still available for the ballcarrier to move forward with. |
