Behold! From their high halls in the lofty peak of Murder Mountain comes a band of noble Dwarves! These Dwarves know how to strut their stuff, and look mighty fine doing it, so strike a pose! With their eyes set on glory, the noble Dwarves entered the Royal Rookie Rumble CCXLV! In their first match they defeated the Woodelves known as Time Flies! After driving the elves offensive line backwards, the Lords of the Stance scored their first touchdown late in the first half! With mere minutes on the clock, the elves snapped into action in an attempt to even the score! The elves were willing, but the coach was not able, his misdirection leaving the brave elves exposed to the dwarven counterattack! Pouncing on their opponents the Lords knocked a few elves off the pitch, their heads reeling from knockout blows. Unwilling to take to the field, the 'unconscious' Elves lay quietly in the safety of their dugout. Their cowardly coach considered conceding! When reminded of the rules he begrudgingly played on. The dwarves took to the elves with gusto; uprooting the Treeman, cracking the skull of a Wardancer, and making off with the ball. With the disheartened Elves refusing to stand up the coach faced a tough decision, should he stall and have his men stomp the elves to smithereens, or score and give them a chance to redeem their honour? The magnanimous lagomorph honourably allowed the Elves to regain their feet, but was rewarded with scorn and insults from the sniveling vermin who 'coached' the unfortunate Elves. As the speedy elves scored quickly, the Dwarves regained their breath and prepared to set up for another offensive drive. Alas, it was to be fraught with tragedy! Driven mad by the putrid filth spewing from the guttersnipe in the opposing coaches chair, the irascible Baron Radvigg assaulted the Treeman once more. The cunning tree had learned from his previous uprootings and with a single swing of his great boughs left Radvigg broken in the dirt. Furious but disciplined, the Lords of the Stance formed a protective shield around the ball and awaited the impending assault of the desperate elves. Their cowardly coach had already thrown in the towel, but the remaining Wardancer, Urlacher, took it upon himself to restore his teams honour. As he sprinted across the field towards the dwarves, the stoic blockers dug in and faced him down. As he leaped over the Lords, they reached up and pulled him down in a crumpled heap. As the final whistle blew and the victorious dwarves departed the field, it was revealed that Urlacher was no more, his neck broken, his foot severed, and his lungs punctured. The disheartened elves went their separate ways (their pusillanimous coach having already skittered to safety), and Time Flies was no longer. Celebrating their victory had to wait; the Lords interred brave Radvigg's crumpled corpse, and with him they buried the mercy which had cost him his life. Swearing that they would never again be soft of heart, they raised their ale in victory and celebrated until the horns sounded the breaking of dawn! Fresh from their victory against the Woodelves, the Lords of the Stance faced a tough match against a more sinister brand of elf. Walking into the stadium packed on all sides with leering elves, the brave Lords squared off against the Anurien Striders. With the elves receiving the kick off, the dwarves rushed to contain them. They succeeded in pinning their flighty foes in place, and when the opportunity arose, Baron Hogglepoggle (in his debut appearance!) threw the elf with the ball into the crowd. The unscrupulous elves in the crowd helped him to his feet, and then had the gall to throw the ball deep into the dwarven backfield! As Lord Foggo sprinted after the ball, his comrades pinned the dastardly elves to the sidelines. During the scrum the overzealous Baron Hogglepoggle found himself knocked backwards into the crowd. As the vicious spectators swarmed in for the kill, he fought his way clear, injuring enough of the weedy malcontents to make his way to the safety of the dugout. Back on the pitch, Lord Foggo collects the ball, and hands it to Earl Errington who runs it further downfield. Lord Kimball, seeing that his comrade won't make it to the end zone in time breaks away from the main scrum and sprints into scoring range. Pursuers hot on his tails, he dodges their attempts to stall him, and makes it to his destination, just in time to catch a quick pass from Earl Errington, scoring to the sounds of the half time whistle, and a chorus of booing onlookers. Taking to the field for the second half, the Lords receive the kick, and protect the ball from the elves who press in around them. Lord Kimball finds himself with his back to the jeering crowd, and pushing back against his assailant he strikes with such force as to damage the back of Urthoz, and earn himself a moment of respite. Following the example of Lord Kimball, Lord Hodor hits Vidhar square in the nose, injuring him so badly he can not continue to play! With the durable elves seeming to finally crumble beneath a hail of blows, Prince Avulstein capitalises and breaks away with the ball. While his team contains the remaining elves, he walks in a touchdown, winning the game 2-0. The victorious Lords quickly escape the danger posed by the curdling crowd, and return to their halls to celebrate! Meanwhile, their opponents, unable to face the shame of losing in front of their peers, disband, never to take to the field again! Having made the Quarter Finals, the Lords of the Stance faced the skaven known as Dimension X. Joined by the infamous Boomer Eziasson who wanted another shot at detonating some rats, the Lords took to the field with great excitement. As the opening whistle was blown, the rowdy fans seized the referee, and carnage breaks out on and off the field! Rocksteady is the first player to depart the field, failing to escape Lords Trama and Kimball. Hurting himself badly in the process, Rocksteady is rushed to the team apothecary who stitches him up and clears him to continue play. Lord Kimball then hits Bebop who pinches a nerve in the fall, and needs to be dragged off the pitch to safety. With two rats off the pitch, things look grim for the Skaven, but the mighty Rat Ogre Krang strikes Lord Glorin with such force as to knock the thick-skulled dwarf unconscious. Boomer managed to get off three bombs, knocking several rats over, but with the swarm pressing in, he put away his toys and toed the line as a blocker for the rest of the drive. With the Lords becoming bogged down in a time consuming scrum, Earl Harvigg pushes forwards too seize some ground. He collides with the Stormvermin known as The Shredder, the impact crumpling the breastplate of the rat and killing him outright! Seeing this ferocious display, Prince Avulstein breaks away to be covered by his allies! As the rats give pursuit, Prince Avulstein and his comrades find themselves bogged down, but maddeningly close to the end zone. With the clock ticking down, they made their push to score. Earls Errington and Harvigg both knock the rats marking them unconscious, allowing Baron Hogglepoggle a chance at freeing Prince Avulstein from his pursuers. He blitzes Rahzar, throwing the rat back with such force that not only is Prince Avulstein pushed clear of his foes, but that the rat is dragged off the pitch with a cracked skull. With the score in sight, Prince Avulstein scores! The referee takes exception with Boomer, and he is restrained from returning to the field, while the unconscious players all regain their composure and prepare to take to the field for another half. With the Skaven receiving, the dwarves tentatively engage, trying to contain the threat of the pesky Gutter Runners who remain at large on the pitch. Their fears are made manifest as Michelangelo makes a break for the end zone, accompanied by Raphael. Raphael can't keep pace with his colleague, and stumbles on some uneven ground. Seeing his opportunity, Earl Harvigg dashes after Michelangelo, pushing him down and freeing the ball from the clutches of the vermin. Prince Avulstein escapes the whipping tail of Krang, picks up the ball and pulls into safety behind his comrades. Alas, his foolhardy coach had directed him to the wrong place, and Krang charges him down. Fortunately for our heroes, Prince Avulstein manages to place the ball safely out of the clutches of the rats. Clearing the area around the ball, Lord Zalton blitzes Donatello, dismembering the Gutter Runner in a fearsome display of strength. Prince Avulstein recovers the ball once more, and the dwarves fall into position around him. Elsewhere on the pitch, Rocksteady takes his revenge on Kimball with a cunning strike sneaking under his helmet, leaving the dwarf with a broken jaw. As the Lords began to methodically knock the remaining rats unconscious, Prince Avulstein and Earl Errington race towards the end zone, elated by their impending victory. Prince Avulstein attempts to give Earl Errington the ball so as to share in the glory, but the proud Earl refuses, the ball getting dropped in the confusion. Prince Avulstein's sure hands retrieve the ball, and triumphantly trots over the line to secure a glorious victory! The Lords return to their halls to celebrate and make offers to the great The Lords raise their horns of mead (and Lord Kimball raises his straw), and the festivities begin! |
