Averheim is the capital of the Empire’s southern most province, Averland. Due to its proximity, it has absorbed a huge number of attacks from Orc and Goblin forces and is known for producing strong, disciplined warriors. The region is famous for producing the finest steeds in the Empire, a fact that is prominently adopted by the University as their namesake. The Stallions have a proud history of blood bowl and have never finished a season below the .500 mark, though usually they fall into the second tier of teams. Averheim University itself is a well respected institution of higher learning with a natural focus on military matters as befits their status as the top University of such a war torn region. All students are required to join the Cadet Corps for at least a semester in order to gain an appreciation for those who protect them from the depredations of outsiders. A medium size University with some 7,556 students, the faculties of Law, History and Political Science are largest with Medicine (focusing on battlefield triage) coming close behind. Founded by the Leitdorf family, the late Elector Count was a keen "booster" for the Stallions and it is in his memory that the team will aim to add a 4th championship to their rolls of honour.
