Sunrise. Clear and bright.

A prison hulk lists gently in the shallows of an estuary. High above gulls circle the wreck spying flotsam cast up by the storm from the night before. Hapless Jack, a local beach comber is also here in search of treasure.

Reaching the crest of a dune Jack is confronted with a dread slight. Maybe a dozen or so figures, tattered and gaunt, some still clapped in chains, brood silently over driftwood embers.

He has seen their kind before. In the ports and the dockyards of Albion and Bretonia, in the arenas and fighting pits of the Empire but mostly in the raiding parties that have terrorised his village for all of his life.

Expecting no quarter Jack makes an offering in return for a quick and merciful death. Dropping to his knees in the wet sand he presents the nearest with his one and only find of the morning - a swollen object of leather and wood studded with iron.

Their leader accepts. He slowly turns this prize over in his hands, feeling it's weight - it's heft - his willowy fingers trace the intricate stitching before holding it aloft he addresses his companions in the common tongue;

"Are we not Druchii?

"We few, fated to wander land and sea under the guiding light of a dim and distant dark star?
We who have placed our very lives into the hands of the one true god Nuffle?

"He who has now delivered us from our captors so that we may continue to play Blood Bowl!"
