The Port Mourning was once a thriving castle town called Cross Waters Harbor. The town was located on the coast on the border between Lyonesse and L'Anguille in Bretonnia. However, about a 100 years ago a band of Vampiric Pirates sailing a large gallion, called the Mourning Tide, sailed into Red Water Bay and pillaged the entire town. The vampires then took the castle for there own and quick set to turn the town into their thralldom. The pirates were lead by an ancient Vampire Lord that went by the name Arturus, who now sits on the Gilded Ironwood seat of Castle Crosstides now called Mourning Tides in honor of now beached ship. However, the Bretonnians initially wouldn't stand for such vile creatures as Vampires to stake claim in their lands. The High Lords of Lyonesse and L'Anguille united under common cause to oust the damned creatures. What those Bretonnian Lords didn't know was that they were not facing a normal sized Vampire Coven of 5 or maybe 10 vampires. No. These Pirates were a coven of 50 blooded vampires all capable in combat from their time spent on the seas; and each able to mercilessly destroy an entire regiment of soldiers on their own. When the Bretonnian army charged through the town gates they soon learned that these vampires were here to stay. After suffering terrible losses, loosing some of their best generals and soldiers to become thralls and vampires themselves; the High Lords sent messengers with peace treaties to Lord Arturus. The treaties promised that the coven may rules the town and its surrounding territories as long as they ruled those lands justly or as justly as vampires and pirates could rule. Thus Cross Waters Harbor become Port Mourning. When Blood Bowl was re-discovered, it peaked Lord Arturus's interest. Arturus is truly an ancient vampire lord. Before, he became a vampire he heard of legends of old heros of the game. After he was turned his master and mentor had old programs from some of the games of Ancient Slann and Khemri teams. Too old to play himself; but as Lord of Port Mourning for the last hundred years, he was rich enough to create and coach his own team. Recruiting among his Coven and the townsfolk, he quickly found that his vampire brethren too often would injury the thrall players. And after many seasons, Arturus found that he only needed 2 maybe 3 Vampires to start with. So in order to pull the best he ran the members of his coven though very strict trials to ensure he was choosing the best of his coven to compete. While sending the rest out pillaging along the coasts local and afar to train. This year he is particularly proud as the team consists of multiple players sharing names from legendary figures of Bretonnian legends. He is looking forward to another cutthroat season for the Cutthroats. *** This vampire team is mostly known for using an unusual tactic at half time. The Cutthroats will transform into cute adorable bats and rats. |
