Spawned by Lord Mazdamundi in the deep recesses of Sabatuun, the Dark Claws were trained for a life on the field. The gracious Lord Mazdamundi acted as their patron, promoter and coach. The Dark Claws were put to the pitch in the local leagues, showing great promise, climbing the ranks and leaving a trial of blood in their wake.

On a whim of the organisers (and no doubt a bit of palm greasing), the Dark Claws were allowed entry to the prestigious Mask, Lenses & Scales Derby. To the surprise of all in attendance, not least the Dark Claws, they thwarted the opposition and were awarded the coveted Mal'liente Trophey.

In a rare moment of elation, Lord Mazdamundi granted the Dark Claws a great boon; the promotion to 'holding' coach of their star player (who loudly boasts about distant ties to the famous Xlu'hotex), and tasked to set sail to take part in the CIBBL league.

Under no circumstances are they allowed to return without being utterly showered in glory and viscera.
