The Champions were created by an excentric warlock, low on funds, and thus unable to hire a proper army of mercenaries to take over the world. For lack of better schemes (warpstone fumes obviously had some minor effects on the warlock's cognitive abilities...) it is his new ambition to obliterate his enemies on the pitch... if only they had teams of their own...
