| The East Kent Mavericks Youth Team was considered a dream for the Mavericks when they first started. The dream became a reality following an open day held for the senior team in late August 2005. Along with players wanting to play football for the adults were a few under 18's that showed an interest in playing football for the Mavericks. After talking to these players after a good session, it was believed that there was interest to start the Youth Team. The main concern for starting the team was the question of coaches. As all of the seniors were preocupied with training for their first competitive year in the BAFL, none of the senior team could be spared for training a completely unexperienced team. After some chats and meetings, two new coaches were found to train the new Youth Team, Coach Jay Wood-Stoddard and Coach Cliff Reader.
