The wood elves forming the Avelorn Phoenix aren't exactly natives of the prestigious Avelorn forest... but instead come from the westernmost forests of the Ulthuan island. But, you know, when a wood elf says he comes from Avelorn, he gains instant coolness as that forest is home to mythical creatures like Pegasis, Unicorns and Giant Eagles... wich is far more exciting than the smalish rainbow coloured birds found in the "westernmost forest of the Ultuan island". It's also pretty cool that Avelorn is the oldest kingdom of Ulthuan and home to the Maiden Guard sworn to protect the Everqueen... which are composed of elf women known for their beauty. Looking like you are being coveted by cool girls makes a wood elf popular with the ladies (as all women mostly desire what is popular)... and being desired by girls makes a wood elf particularly hated by those boring and less "lady successful" high and lesser elves opponents.
