Beesbok and Brobat are the Pygmy gods. According to the Pygmy myth, the world was created by thirteen little gods who then met in a huge feast to celebrate. During this feast, two half brothers conspired to murder the eleven other gods; even today they still dine on the flesh of their former comrades. Of the two, Brobat is more cautious and sober and is described in legends as a sneaky intriguer. He's smart, selfish and morally bankrupt. His sphere of influence is work, suffering, disease and death, political intrigue and the acquisition of power. He has the appearance of a huge pygmy six feet tall, carrying a crocodile skin, a feather headdress and carrying a thick wooden stick. Beesbok presents a more cheerful picture. He has no interest in work, intrigue, thinking too hard or doing anything other than eating, and having a good time in general. His area of interest includes all major leisure activities, health and wellness, as well as the promotion of lethargy. At five and a half feet, he is great for a pygmy but small for a god. Beesbok is thick, stocky, with dark skin, dirty and has a huge belly. He is often naked, but sometimes wears a simple loincloth and carries a club or a blowpipe. Each Pygmy tribe has a priest for each god. The priest of Beesbok is the most popular among the villagers. They come to him because they assume he wants to help. However, the priest of Brobat is unpopular and generally avoided, but the villagers never openly oppose him and go to him for advice because they are afraid of punishment by Brobat. When a villager has a problem (illness, rival in love, flatulence, etc.), they will secretly consult the two priests and attempt to follow the advice given by both (usually extremely contradictarily). Though their homelands are far from the Chaos wastes, there are dark places within the Lustrian jungles; unholy temples containing long derelict machineries from the former spacefaring days of the Slann. These eldritch devices decay over aeons, the warpstone that once powered them now twisting and distorting the flora and fauna of the rainforests, and even the very spirits of nature with which the Pygmies are so attuned. Occasionally, this leaves local Pygmy clans vulnerable to demonic influence. Their spiritual beliefs are then used against them, being pushed to unnatural extremes, with Brobat becoming almost an amalgamation of both Tzeentch and Nurgle, while Beesbok in turn assumes the aspect of the youngest of the Ruinous Powers, the Lord of Pleasure, Slaanesh. This team of degenerates is one such band of unfortunates, for whom the pursuit of pleasure has become paramount. Rumours within the Leeg say that the animal totem helmets which the team wears are no longer merely headgear, and they have in fact been gifted (or cursed) by their demonic master with the features of the creatures they mimic in their hunting techniques. |
