The Crazy Gang Team Founding Wimbledon Fling Club was founded in the Moot in 1889. The original club was a fling only bar and grill whose owner Dario Gradi agreed that they would join a local blood bowl league. The first team was formed by bribing patrons of the club with free food on match days if they turned out for the team. This lead to a mad rush to play for the team and nearly bankrupted Dario until he instituted the rule that food was only free after the game was finished. This new rule meant that the amount of willing volunteers (a.k.a. victims) reduced although there were still enough to field a full team. Due to casualties suffered during the game Dario ended up giving away very little free food. Despite this the promise of free food was enough to ensure that Wimbledon finished their first full season of blood bowl. Over many seasons Wimbledon Fling Club remained a fling only team however when Dario Gradi retired the bar and grill shut down leaving the Fling Club without a manager and no incentive for playing the game. Despite this some of the veteran players decided to keep the club going living a nomadic existence touring the Moot and then either a field in search of game that payed enough to keep the flings in food. Over the years as the veterans retired and new blood came into the side the youngsters started to question the traditions of the fling club. Why they asked do we not have tree men? Why do we insist on playing this pretty blood bowl and losing instead of going for the more reliable and low risk play style? After many arguments on this theme the old timers gave up and stormed out muttering to themselves about "the uncouth youth" and "no respect for traditions". With the old flings gone the new flings started to look around for some treemen to assist the squad and get them back to winning ways. Eventually they found Dave Beasant who was the only treeman willing to play for such an unsuccessful team. Even with Daves help the team struggled however the flings did get a laugh out of being flung around the pitch like ball seeking missiles. This fetish for being thrown through the air combined with their off field antics especially when they had won a game resulted in the Moot media referring to the team as The Crazy Gang. For several years the crazy gang played in the lower reaches of the blood bowl pyramid until last season when their manager Ron Noades mysteriously disappeared. In the chaos that followed this Dave Beasant proposed that they hire his old comrade Dave Bassett to be their manager. The old treeman had stopped playing long ago when his wood elf side had been wiped out in a rather bloody cup game. Following this Bassett had insisted he would never play elf-ball again. Dave Bassett readily agreed to be the teams manager and soon The Crazy Gang were on a roll as Bassett turned out to be a tactical genius who decided the best way to play with flings was route one. This was basically when receiving get the ball to a fling and then throw him up field and score as quickly as possible. When kicking the idea was to throw flings at the ball or ball carrier to attempt to secure the ball as far away from the flings end zone as possible. This proved to be a master strategy that worked brilliantly until Dave Beasant was knocked out early in a game. With no other treeman in the side the flings were about to go to plan b, foul everyone possible, when the manager decided to take Beasant's place.
