My Mission Statement: I do not play to win at any cost, kill your players, destroy your team or foul as much as possible. I am not worried about my CR or W/L ratio. I play for fun and amusement. I will take opportunities given, but I will not throw a cheap foul just because. After an freak incident involving an Anvil of Doom, a cart of whisky, several explosions, setting fire to a Rune Lord's beard, three hamsters, and the flooding of a Halfling Shire, Kargni Oldstrider took up the axe and red mohawk of the Trollslayer. He wandered the countryside for decades unsuccessfully seeking his doom, able to find only a handful of Trolls. These were always living in the most remote locations and took months of travel to find. Worse yet were the pointless treks, following rumors only to find weasly renegade Black Orc or the like. After a particularly woeful quest where a renegade water drake had turned out to only be a rather large crocodile, Kargni went to his first Bloodbowl game in Altdorf. To his amazemen he realized where all the Trolls of the countryside had gone: they'd been recruited for Bloodbowl! Realizing that the Trolls would come to him, Kargni hung up his axe and founded the Steelers. The Steelers are recruited from the sturdiest and most doughty members of the hold. They are hand picked by a rigourous selection process involving drinking, arm wrestling, brawling, boasting and alot more drinking. Many a Dwarf has gone out for a 'friendly' night on the town only to find they'd signed a player contract while in their cups. Few mind this process as the team is sponsored by the Steelshield Brewery and Armoury. To keep morale up, the team is kept at a constant state of inebriation. These 'recruitment drives' and 'morale boosters' are where a great majority of team funds are 'reinvested'. Rumour that the team coach has a majority interest in the Steelshield business is currently unfounded. The current Steelers regime believes that the key to a Bloodbowl game is a good defense. The players are currently working on a system they call the "Wall of Steel" defense, refusing to yield ground to the opposition. Several team members have learned to hold their ground against even the toughest opponents, though detractors say their first win was only because they played against "understrength Elfs". |
