| <P align=left>Different teams pose different problems. Some teams will try to smash yours off the pitch. This is not one of those ... These elves aren't really interested in blocking at all: by default, they will dodge away from adjacent opponents. Their priorities are: 1) to get the ball and score; 2) to protect themselves; and only 3) to hurt the opposition. The challenge this team poses is not to beat them up: that's easy enough. It's to stop them getting their hands on the ball. If you commit enough players to protecting the ball, will you also be able to keep your offence moving forward and keep smashing elves off the pitch? In addition, these elves have a completely cynical approach to the game. Many elf teams will just score as soon as they can: these won't. Unlike stronger teams, they won't try to stall for a whole half, but just for an extra turn or two. The theory is this: the longer they take about scoring, the less time you'll have to equalise. The less time you have, the more risks you'll have to take. If one of those risks is failed, perhaps the elves can steal the ball and score again ... |
